The eleventh of the month (dispatch from Thailand)

 

I’m sitting in an auditorium in a school in Thailand. My cousin is next to me planning courses.

I spent the morning stretching on top of a brick staircase in the sky. The steps were falling apart and as I walked up it hoping the structure wouldn’t crumble beneath me. The staircase didn’t seem to lead anywhere except to the platform at the top, at the edge of the clouds.

Courtney arrives in India

I’m sitting in a cafe in  New Delhi, India. Took a break from the village I am currently living in in the state of Uttar Pradesh, in the North.

Where I live there are cows, men with fruit carts, barefoot children, women dressed in sari’s everywhere like elegant queens, and orange monkeys with pink butts who scare the heck out of me.
I just drew my world here in India on a napkin, the napkin on one side has my little world, the birds, the sugar mill, the rickshaws, the dirt roads, and the other side of the napkin is titled “The rest of the world”. On it is a series of abstract lines, as the rest of the world is a foreign abstract idea to me at this moment. [Read more...]
